GreenAllies hosts an annual student sustainability conference, titled Sustainability and Me. This year we are hosting the event on Thursday, September 25th, outdoors at the student-run Althouse Arboretum in Pottstown, and we are inviting all interested high school students to attend. Our plans for the conference are now finalized, and as the date draws nearer, we are reaching out to invite you and your students to spend the day learning and networking with us.
At the conference, students will have the opportunity to attend 3 unique workshops. These include a current environmental events discussion group, a forest-based teambuilding exercise, and a guided make-your-own sustainable products activity. Additionally, during the event’s lunch, there will be several guest speakers discussing environmental opportunities for youth including a representative from the Pennsylvania DCNR and a spokesperson of the nationally-recognized Walking Softer Foundation. All workshops and activities will take place at our beautiful arboretum which offers the perfect backdrop for environmental learning and engagement. A gourmet lunch will be served at the event. The cost is $20 per student (chaperones are free) and includes breakfast buffet, lunch, and materials.
We believe this conference will energize your students, encourage them to be active members of your classroom community, and kickstart your environmental initiatives for the school year. Now is the time to begin preparations for coming to the Arboretum on September 25th. As a weekday activity, we understand there are complicated measures to organize a field-trip such as this, but we are more than willing to work with you to help plan and answer any questions you may have. Please kindly fill out the 30-second Interest Form linked below to receive more information and updates about the event. We look forward to seeing you and your students on September 25th!
